About Me
I am the founder of North Star Legal Nurse Consulting, LLC. I have been in the field of nursing since 2002. I attended Minot State University in Minot, ND, and received my BSN. I then worked as an RN at a level II Trauma Center in Minot, ND. I worked in the Intensive Care Unit and was on the Flight Team. In 2008 I received my MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. I have continued working as a Family Nurse Practitioner as well as the only Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, in my home area of Fairview, MT. I oversee the Rural Health Care Clinic for all of Richland County. I not only provide care in the clinic, but I also cover the walk-in clinic, home health services, hospice, and the county detention center. I am also the concussion liaison for the schools in Richland County. As you can see, I have a broad range of experiences that help me understand the medical side as well as the patient’s side
I have completed many hours of training to become a Legal Nurse Consultant. Not only have I attended continuing education classes but I also completed a course through CLS Barbri (which was through the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks) as well as courses through National Nurse Consulting.
I have had experience on both sides. While I was in Nursing school, my boyfriend (now husband) was injured in a factory accident leaving him without the majority of his right (dominant) hand. I was with him through his journey of working with Worker’s Compensation and his legal team. That was my first experience with any medicolegal issues. Then in 2007, my brother sustained a C5 burst fracture, much like Superman’s (Christopher Reeve), leaving him a ventilator-dependent quadriplegic. After months in the hospital, he was able to come home. After 3 months of being back on our farm, he succumbed to his death due to respiratory complications. Looking back, he had suffered negligence while in the hospital. He had skin break down requiring wound vac placement as well as multiple infections and delayed colostomy placement.
I have since been involved in depositions for plaintiffs and defendants. I have presented cases to the M&M committee at my facility where I have been involved in.Because of my personal experience as well as my professional experience I can relate to your clients and their needs for financial retribution to aid in life care planning.Fairview, MT is a rural community that thrives on Agriculture and the Oil Industry. Exposure to accidents in the field is never-ending. The Midwest is full of hard-working blue-collared men and women who need advocates when they are injured and ill.
I am here to help with not only personal injury cases but with medical malpractice, product liability, criminal cases, deposition prep and development.
